The
present Almora Postal Division comprises of Almora and
Bageshwar revenue districts, with its headquarter at Almora.
It came into existence on 7 December 1960 after bifurcation
from the then Kumaon Division with its headquarter at Nainital.
It was further bifurcated on 12 December 1973 separating
Almora and Pithoragarh Divisions.
It
is bounded by Pithoragarh Division in the east, Pauri Divn in
the west, Chamoli Division in the north and Nainital Division
in the south. There are 13 Tehsils - 9 in Almora and 4
in Bageshwar - and 14 Blocks (11 in Almora and 3 in Bageshwar). |

Division serves as total population of 757,373 spread over in 5385
Sq. Km. through 2 Head Post Offices, 1 Mukhya Dak Ghars, 50 Sub-Post
Offfices, 13 EDSOs, 403 EDBOs and 13 PSSKs out of which 2 HOs, 1 MDG
and 21 SOs are fully computerized.
For
centuries, Kumaon has been called as a paradise on the earth
attracting thousands of tourists not only from
India
but also from all corners of the world. Almora, a part of Kumaon
Region and an ancient hill station reputed for its rejuvenating
climate, is perched on a 5 km long horse-saddle shaped ridge.
