Chamoli
Postal Division comprises Chamoli and Rudraprayag
revenue districts, with head quarters at Gopeshwar. Bounded by
Almora Division in the east, Pauri Division in the southwest
and Tehri Division in the northwest, the
division has international borders with Tibet in the north. There are 9
Tehsils - 6 in Chamoli and 3 in Rudraprayag districts - and 12
blocks (9 in Chamoli and 3 in Rudraprayag).
Out of 12
Jyotirlings, one (Kedarnath - 3581 MSL) and out of four Dhams,
one Holy Shrine (Badrinath - 3133 MSL) fall in this
Division. Also, Hemkund Sahib (4329 MSL) where the 10th
Sikh Guru, Guru Govind Singh Ji, had mediated falls
in this Division.
