| Dehradun Division consists of Dehradun and Hardwar Revenue
Districts, except Kamptee and Mumalda EDBOs and some delivery
area of Rishikesh LSG SO which are under Tehri District.
The headquarter of the Division is in the Doon Valley
surrounded by Shivalik Hills at an altitude of above 640
meters. The records of Dehradun division reveal that
the first Post Office of Dehradun City was under the control
of SPOs Meerut in 1893. From 1.4.1950 Dehradun HPO was
upgraded to 1st Class HO and control of HPO and TSOs was
transferred to Postmaster, Dehradun. The Division was
upgraded to JTS Class 1 with effect from 26.9.1950 and to STS
with effect from 7.6.1951. |
